Why Threads Has Become My Go-To Platform (and How You Can Use It Too)

entrepreneurship marketing Jul 14, 2025
If you’ve been wondering whether Threads is worth your time as a business owner, especially if you're a mom entrepreneur trying to juggle all the things, this one's for you.

I’ve been sitting on this episode for a while—partly because I wanted to gather enough insight to speak about Threads in a meaningful way, and partly because life (kids, business, broken leg... we'll get to that) got in the way. But after using Threads consistently for over a year, I finally feel ready to share what I’ve learned, how it’s helped my business grow (in some unexpected ways), and how you can make it work for you.

Let’s Rewind: My Threads Journey

Threads came onto the scene sometime in mid-to-late 2023. I hopped on early—it was summer, it was fun, and for a few weeks I was all in. But then, like many of you can probably relate to, summer parenting and running a business took priority. I gave myself permission to let it go.

Fast forward to March 2024: I broke my leg and found myself bed-bound with nothing but time. I couldn’t do the usual mom things. I couldn’t manage my household or be physically active. So I turned back to Threads as a creative outlet.

At first, I just used it to post unfiltered thoughts—stuff that didn’t quite fit on Instagram or deserve an entire podcast episode. But what surprised me was how quickly it all took off.

What Makes Threads So Different?

Let’s be real: Threads is low-lift. There’s no pressure to be “camera-ready.” No need for polished Reels or curated carousels. You just... write. Think a thought, share it, and that’s it.

As someone who creates a lot of content across multiple platforms, Threads feels refreshingly simple. It’s like the group chat of social media—real, raw, and conversational. And because of that, trust is built fast.

Here’s what I noticed almost immediately:
  • My Instagram following started to grow again after months of being stuck at the same number.
  • Podcast downloads surged. Like, 10x growth in two years.
  • New connections rolled in—friends, clients, podcast guests, and collaborators.
  • Oh, and I booked 80+ podcast interviews, many of which started with a single post on Threads. (No, really.)

So… Does Threads “Work”?

Yes. But maybe not in the traditional “sales funnel” kind of way.
I don’t go on Threads expecting clients, but I’ve absolutely had people inquire about offers, sign up for connection calls, and join events because of what I’ve posted. More importantly, Threads has become a magnet for aligned people.

People who think like me. People who challenge me. People who see the world the way I do.

If your business is built on relationships, trust, connection, or community, this platform is worth exploring.

What to Post on Threads: 4 Types of Content That Work

Here’s what I’ve found consistently performs well—and helps build visibility, credibility, and community (aka the holy grail of online presence):

1. Point of View Posts (a.k.a. Hot Takes)

These are your opinions, beliefs, or controversial thoughts. They can be a sentence or a full story.
Example: “I don’t want a business that runs without me. I want one that supports me.”
These posts either repel or resonate—and that’s a good thing. They help your people find you faster.

2. Real-Time Thoughts

Think behind-the-scenes updates, personal reflections, or “here’s what’s on my mind today” type posts. They make you relatable and human.
Example: “April and May were my biggest podcast months ever and I’m so dang proud of that.”
People want to celebrate with you. Let them.

3. Calls to Action + Conversation Starters

Ask bold, scroll-stopping questions. One that always does well for me?
“Entrepreneurial moms: pick two – Sleep, Growth, Creativity, Rest, Revenue.”
Simple, engaging, and built for connection.

4. Community-Building Check-Ins

This one’s fun. Invite people to tap in.
Example: “If you're a mom who cold plunges before sunrise, show yourself.”
Or “If you love holistic living + business ownership, say hi.”
It makes people feel seen—and it brings your niche audience right to you.

But Don’t Just Post… Engage.

Threads isn’t a content calendar; it’s a conversation.

Reply to other posts. Be bold in the comments. Follow people you genuinely vibe with. I spend about 15–20 minutes a day on the app, and that’s it. A little goes a long way.

And if you’re thinking, “Laura, I don’t know what to post,” start by replying to other people’s content. That alone can get the ball rolling.

How I Use Threads Strategically Each Week

I keep it simple with a few weekly anchors:
  • 2x posts about my podcast
  • 1x post about my Community Connection Calls
  • Extra posts if I’m launching or hosting something (like spa days or retreats)
Then, I aim for 5–10 replies and follow a handful of new aligned accounts.

TL;DR: Should You Be on Threads?

If you're short on time and want a low-effort, high-connection platform that prioritizes real thoughts over polished graphics—yes.

If you're in a season of building your community or growing your podcast—absolutely.

And if you’re craving a space where it’s okay to be a little unfiltered, a little opinionated, and a whole lot you—then Threads might just become your new favorite hangout.

You can find me there at @itslaurasinclair (same as Instagram). Come say hi. Or better yet, reply to one of my unhinged thoughts and let’s be internet friends.

Want to know how to repurpose your Threads content into other platforms (like your IG, podcast, or email list)? Stay tuned—I'll be diving into that in an upcoming episode.
