To the coach that called me lazy for prioritizing my kids...

entrepreneurship marketing Jul 12, 2022

I recently applied to work with a business coach for an 8-week intensive.

We spoke for 30 mins on the phone, and I left having no doubt about their ability to help me grow my business…

…but there was part of me that felt resistance to it.

It wasn’t the $11,000 price tag.

It was a feeling in my gut.

There was a piece that felt like an energetic mismatch…

I’ve had a rule where I only hired people who could relate or understand that my children are a priority in my life, and will always come before my business… this usually means other moms, or people who are deeply connected to family. From my initial read, this coach didn’t fall into that category…

The other concern was the timing. The 8 weeks was to run over the summer.

So, I do what I do… I slept on it. I felt it out, and ultimately decided the timing wasn’t right.

I had to listen to my gut around the energy, and the commitment I made to let the summer BE. So I could be present with my kids…

…so I politely let them know that it wasn’t the right time.

2 hours later, this coach got on their IG stories to talk say “If one more person tells me that they can’t do something because it’s summer….” And then continue to berate “people like that” for not being hard workers…

…every part of me wanted to message this person and tell them just how wrong they were.

But, they actually did me a favour.

They claimed the energetic mismatch I felt. I was dead on about them.

I would never succeed working with a person like that.

So, why am I telling you this?

…. because you should always listen to your gut.

If something doesn’t feel like a hell yes for you, it’s a no.

Your intuition is a powerful thing.

What has it been telling you lately?
