My failures have eliminated my fear.
Oct 04, 2022
There have been three times in my life that I had no idea how I was going to pay my bills…
The first was in 2013.
I was fired from my corporate job. Long story short – I took a job with a genuinely horrible boss and was fired 2 days before my probationary period ended.
My $65k salary – gone.
The second time was in 2016.
I walked away from a business partnership that was threatening both my sanity and my health.
My $150k salary – gone.
The most recent time was 2020.
My brick and mortar gym closed – permanently.
My multi-six figure business - gone.
Three times I have found myself with no income…and three times I have proven to myself that being scrappy is one of my best qualities.
I’m a big believer that what happens to you is actually for you, and the biggest thing I’ve garnered from these experiences is that I’m no longer afraid of failure.
Were they shitty at the time? Oh yeah. It felt like the world was ending when I was in it…
But here’s the thing - being successful in business has a lot to do with your willingness to change your relationship with fear.
It is really hard to succeed in business with your feet in separate places. Going ALL IN on my business and deciding that it’s boom or bust, changed my life.
Often, the thing that is holding us back from achieving success is fear.
Fear of failure. Fear of visibility, or even… fear of success (yes that’s a thing).
Ask yourself – what are you afraid of right now?
What is it holding you back from?
Everything you want is on the other side of fear… somethings you just have to jump.
