When I was pregnant with my daughter, all anyone said to me was "congratulations - enjoy every minute!" and the 100 variations of that phrase.

 

No one sat me down and said, Laura - this sh*t is going to be hard. Really hard.

 

It wasn't until I started talking about how hard I found motherhood to be that people started having the conversation back, and what a RELIEF that was for me, as a new mom who thought I was just supposed to enjoy every minute.
