I have a 4 year old and I am not okay
Oct 15, 2024
While many of my Canadian friends were celebrating Thanksgiving this past weekend, I was celebrating my son turning four.
I still ate turkey of course, but I was less interested in giving thanks and more interested in the fact that may baby is very much no longer a baby.
While both of my children's birthdays bring up all the feels - my sons birthday makes me feel particularly emotional because of where I was in that season of my life.
When he was born it was the middle of the pandemic, my gym was under lockdown and I had more money going out then I had coming in.
When he was three months old we closed that gym permanently with a whole lot of question marks around what I was going to do with myself and how I was going to contribute to my family.
When he was four months old I started this business.
And now, he is four YEARS old. And we have both come so far.
October 2020 Laura had no idea what was to come. It makes me think about where we will be in another four years.... if we can accomplish THIS MUCH in just four years, what will the next look like?
So while I am sitting in a little nostalgia and only a small pool of tears thinking about my little dude, I thought I'd use this as an opportunity to encourage you to do a little reflection too.
Here are some prompts to help you think about how far you've come and where you're heading:
- Where do you want your business to be in four years? Get specific! Whether it’s hitting certain revenue goals or expanding your team, what does your ideal future look like?
- What’s one small action you can take today to get closer to that goal? Remember, it’s the tiny steps that lead to massive progress over time.
- Who do you need to become to reach those goals? It might mean stepping out of your comfort zone, leveling up your skills, hiring a mentor, or simply embracing more confidence.
Take some time to sit with these prompts and see what comes up for you.
