Bringing This Mother Means Business to Life

entrepreneurship marketing Apr 28, 2025
It’s hard to believe it’s already been a few weeks since This Mother Means Business LIVE took place — and honestly, I’m still processing it. If you caught the first part of my recap (and if you didn’t, definitely scroll back and listen to last week’s episode), I talked a lot about the lead-up to the event and the wild ride that was the prep process. But today, I want to talk about what happened on the day — because wow, it was something special.

First things first, I have to shout out the women who made this event possible. As someone who’s been part of the “I can do it all myself” club (guilty), I’ve learned how essential it is to have support — especially when you’re building something big. The women who sponsored this event? Absolute gems. From stunning design work to jaw-dropping florals, to thoughtful touches like branded tote bags and incredible photography, they helped bring this vision to life in ways I never could have imagined on my own.

The energy on the day of was immediate. Women who had only met virtually were hugging like old friends, the room was buzzing (and not just because we were waiting on coffee – which, yes, was late!), and the vibes were just… high. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t stressed — I was giving a brand new keynote, and oh yeah, I was also running the whole event. Lesson learned: next time, I’ll happily emcee, welcome everyone in, and cheer from the front — but I won’t be keynoting again. Planning the event was enough!

That said, once I delivered my keynote and it landed well (more on that in a future episode), I was finally able to breathe and really soak it all in.

There were so many highlights throughout the day — but the panel was next-level. Hearing women open up about guilt, expectations, and navigating motherhood and business with honesty and vulnerability brought me to tears (and I wasn’t the only one). Watching the audience engage and ask heartfelt questions just reminded me of how much we need spaces like this — where we don’t have to pretend we’ve got it all figured out. Where we can just be seen and supported.

And then came the networking portion of the day — and let me tell you, I had dreams of what I wanted this to look like… but the reality was so much better. That room was LOUD in the best way. Conversations. Laughter. Hugs. Women genuinely connecting and making plans to follow up after the event. This wasn’t surface-level networking — this was the real deal.

Standing on stage, looking out at 64 incredible women building relationships and cheering each other on? I had to take a beat. This is why I do this work.

One of the most meaningful moments for me personally was having my husband there — not just in the audience, but as our DJ (sometimes you call in favors, right?). It meant a lot to share this with him — to show him what I’ve been building and why I’ve spent so many hours in my office talking to my phone or typing away at my laptop. It helped him see it. And my kids? Let’s just say, when your daughter tells you that you have a “big, important business” — you know you’re doing something right.

I ended the night at dinner with my family, phone away, heart full. The love, the support, the messages from so many of you… I needed a good 72 hours to fully process it all.

And if you were part of the day in any way — whether you sponsored, showed up, spoke on stage, or just sent me a little good luck message — please know how deeply grateful I am. I mean that from the depths of my soul.
