A lot can change in 7 years...

entrepreneurship marketing Jun 18, 2024
My daughter turns 7 tomorrow.

Which means 7 years ago today, I was in the middle of what would end up being 40 hours of prodromal labour...

...where I would then finally start actual labour, give birth to my daughter, and then 20 minutes later find myself in the hospital bed in a diaper replying to new client inquiries for my gym.

If sounds ridiculous to you, it's because it is.

I put my business before EVERYTHING seven years ago.

I could not be more proud to not be in that energy anymore.

Today, my kids, my partner, and myself will ALWAYS come before my business.

It wasn't an easy shift - but it was a necessary one.

It doesn't mean I don't love my business, or have ambition to be wildly successful - of course I do - but it does mean that if I'm on a client call and my son is home and having a meltdown because he needs his mommy that our call will have a +1.

It does mean that if my kids need me that I will drop everything to see that those needs are met.

That if I need some space that I may just reschedule my entire day to take it.

It's an embodiment that I teach my clients too, because frankly - it has to be that way.

I tried it the way where I put business first and almost lost everything that matters to me (including my sanity).

So, on this 7th year of my daughters life, I am reflective on both how quickly time passes (despite it feeling slow while living it), and also so grateful for how different I am and the journey that it's taken to get here.

I can't wait to see what the next 7 years bring, minus the pre-teen drama because there is no way I am adequately prepared for that nonsense yet.

I invite you to look back at the changes you've made in your own life in the last few years. Do they make you feel proud?

Would love for you to reply to this email and let me know!
