What vintage t-shirts have to do with growing my business...
Mar 01, 2022
I used to love wearing vintage T-shirts.
I’d take the train into Toronto and try to find the coolest ones.
I wore my favourite vintage batman shirt until it was no longer acceptable to wear.
If you’re thinking, “I didn’t know this about you” …
Honestly, I had forgotten about all of this until recently.
As in… COMPLETELY forgotten that I like wearing vintage T-shirts, or that I used to frequent these stores.
Why? Because I got lost.
Somewhere between starting - and ending - my corporate career, owning a gym, having two babies, closing said gym, and all of the heartbreak, pain, mess, and beauty of the in between… I literally lost myself.
To the point where I didn’t even remember what I like.
Easy questions to answer like…
How you like to dress?
What do you do for fun?
What do you like to eat?
Music you like to listen to?
Felt absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to answer.
I’ve spent the last 3 months diving into these questions.
· Trying clothes from stores with easy return policies
· Ordering spicy food from restaurants in my town (in need of recommendations it’s not going well)
· Going into the archives of music I used to love
· Tapping into FUN.
I’ve let this come through in my business.
My branding.
My content.
ME.
The real ME.
And what’s happened?!
I’m attracting the dreamiest freaking clients into my world.
Because finally, my authentic self has been unleashed.
So, what’s the point of this story?!
The actually KEY to your business, to unlocking the dreamiest amount of success is YOU.
All of the hacks, content ideas, tricks, tips won’t matter unless you are being truly and authentically you.
So, stop caring so much about what other people think. Dig into the stuff that is fun for YOU, and share it. Over and over again.
Your people will love you for it.
p.s. Anyone have a lead on some vintage Batman t’s?
